#TRAVELINGTINK x HIGH PEAKS RESORT - LAKE PLACID NEW YORK
Upstate New York is simply gorgeous during the end of winter on brink of spring and one of my favorite places for a getaway is Lake Placid. A few weeks ago we had a dreamy getaway at High Peaks Resort in the stunning Adirondacks, and it was EXACTLY what my little heart desired.
This was a very special trip, as it was my first adventure with my baby sister, Belle! And let me tell you, traveling is even better with this little cutie by my side. I’m so glad I got to share this great trip with her, and show her how much fun it is to explore somewhere new. I’m looking forward to so many more trips with my little sis in the future.
March is a great time to visit Lake Placid. The lake was frozen over and it was a bit chilly but I looked cute as heck in my puffy winter snowsuit (and the cold never bothered me anyway!) It was Belle’s first time wearing a snowsuit and she was… a bit awkward at first! But, she figured it out and quickly embraced her cozy and stylish look.
High Peaks Resort claims to be the most pet-friendly hotel in Lake Placid, and they are not exaggerating. They really made Belle and I feel very welcome all throughout our stay. I guess you could say they treated us like VIP guests (Very Important Pets!)
They have dog-friendly rooms at the resort with easy access to the outdoors, making it easy to go on spontaneous walks or take late-night bathroom breaks. We had our own mat, bowls and a coZy dog bed, as well as a gift of a chic new bandana and some delicious treats from the front desk.
Plus, taking your pup to High Peaks will support a great cause! A portion of the pet fee goes toward the Joshua Fund, which is a local non-profit organization that supports dog rescue, adoptions and care. We love to see this!
This destination is an ideal spot for both humans and dogs to enjoy. There are so many beautiful hiking and walking trails around the lake to enjoy together, and many cafes, pubs and restaurants in the area allow dogs. Just ask the front desk staff – they have some great suggestions of where to go.
During our visit, we got to check out the amazing Lake Placid Olympic Ski Jumping Complex, where some truly amazing humans competed for the gold. We also got to watch some very impressive huskies pulling a sled across the ice. They were doing a great job, but that sort of thing is not for me or my little sis. I’ll skip the sled-pulling and stick to being carried around by my human, thank you very much!
After a big day of exploring the gorgeous snowy landscapes of Lake Placid, my little paws were cold and my legs were tired. Belle and I curled up in front of the warm, crackling fireplace for a little snooze in the High Peaks Lobby.
High Peaks Resort has such a welcoming atmosphere and it really felt like a home away from home. I couldn’t think of a better place for my first trip with my little sister!
